Services Offered
Family Medicine at Siriraj Hospital provides comprehensive, continuous and person-centred care across hospital, primary care, home and community settings. Services include care for people with multimorbidity and advanced chronic illness, early identification of changing care needs, proactive care planning, home-based care, and coordination across levels of the health system. These roles provide an important foundation for integrating primary palliative care and supporting earlier recognition of people who may benefit from a palliative approach.
SPICT Uses
We are currently working on the translation and cultural adaptation of SPICT-4ALL-TH 2026. Following its development, we plan to explore its implementation among non-healthcare providers to support earlier recognition of people with deteriorating health and potential primary palliative care needs in community settings.
Other Information
This work forms part of a broader interest in strengthening primary and public health palliative care in Thailand. We hope SPICT-4ALL-TH can help bridge early recognition in the community with proactive, continuous care from primary care teams, while promoting greater involvement of families and communities in supporting people with serious illness.

Services Offered
Our palliative home care center is located in the Songklanagarind Hospital, a 1000-bed teaching hospital and the largest hospital in Southern Thailand. Our center offers home and community care services for patients with cancers and chronic diseases, residency training and research. Under the ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ with the National Taiwan University, we have been exchanging staff and making residency visits for palliative care training.
SPICT Uses
Our center has back-translated and adapted SPICT-LIS in clinical practice. The referral cases from other specialists including internal medicine, surgery and oncology are screened with SPICT-LIS to identify if palliative care would be benefit. We recognise that SPICT-LIS has potential for improvement and in continuing development of palliative care.
